THE DEVELOPERS ARE BACK AGAIN!
In November 2022, EHDC refused planning permission on land to the west of Buntingford and east of the A10. Thanks to over 1000 residents voicing their objections & EHDC’s comprehensive report detailing why that development was completely unsuitable, the application was refused. Despite this, and for the 4th time, the developer decided to try again. It's been refused (again) and over 1050 residents objected this time but Vistry/Countryside Partnerships are appealing to the Secretary of State.
A further application has been put in to build 68 more houses off London Road/Owles Lane by Wheatley Group. This is onto a road that has just had a carefully designed £3.2 million overhaul...
Taylor Wimpey have submitted an application for 200+ houses at the top of Hare Street Road.
We do not believe the inclusion of a medical centre in the plans makes the cost of 200 extra houses acceptable. The Integrated Care Board has an obligation and duty to provide primary healthcare. Buntingford will never be left without this as it is the ICB's responsibility, not a developer.
Another speculative application for 600+ houses west of the A10 has been submitted by Henry Boot/Hallam Land Management.
We believe that any further large developments would be detrimental to our town, community & environment. Instead, we should focus on addressing the problems already caused to our existing infrastructure and services by overdevelopment
